Cremeschnitte

CREMESCHNITTE is a book exploring the dialectical relationship between languages, cultures and geopolitics, how cultural heritage transcends the borders and languages spoken by different ethnic or social groups, meanwhile questioning how borderline is drawn on map where there’s no physical dividing line.

In contrast to its many names, cremeschnitte is made from the most common ingredients – flour, sugar, egg, butter – and has the most recognizable appearance. By naming it in their own languages, people across different countries baptised it and integrated it into their local cultures.
